Hazel J Hopkins (Ruble), of Union, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the age of 76. She was born July 10, 1949, to Joel "Jack" Ruble, and his wife, Mabel (Marr).
Hazel was united in marriage to her husband, Ron Hopkins, on February 5, 1972, in Piedmont, Missouri. A woman of deep faith, her closest friend was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Hazel was active in her church, where she taught Bible study classes and shared her love of music by singing in trios and quartets. In her early years, she owned and operated a licensed daycare. She devoted much of her professional life to serving others, working as a secretary for the Kaskaskia Special Education School District #801 and as a village board secretary for Dix, Illinois. Hazel was a talented ceramics artist and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, and traveling. She was also active with the Goldwing Road Riders Association and Road Riders for Jesus, reflecting her love of fellowship and service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joel "Jack" Ruble, and his wife, Mabel (Marr); three brothers, Robert "Bob" Ruble, and wife, Pat, James Ruble, and Jack Ruble; two sisters, Betty Bieser, and husband, Clarence as well as, Mabel Ruth Clark; and two brothers-in-law, George Howard and Bill Rice.
She is survived by her husband Ron Hopkins, of Union, Missouri; four brothers, Pete Ruble, and wife, Kathy, of Piedmont, Missouri, Rick Ruble, and wife, Vivian, of Piedmont, Missouri, Charles Ruble, and wife, JoAnne, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Kieth Ruble, and wife, Teresa, of Vulcan, Missouri; four sisters, Patricia Howard, of Piedmont, Missouri, Helen Hughs, and husband, Ron, of Farmington, Missouri, Sandy Phelps, and husband, Robert, of Annapolis, Missouri, and Judy Koehr, of Vulcan, Missouri; one brother-in-law, James Clark, of Piedmont, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Debbie Ruble, of Piedmont, Missouri; two sons, Michael Hopkins, and wife Carmen, of Union, Missouri, and David Hopkins, and wife, Lucretia, of Owensboro, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Michael, Ellie, Harrison, and Thomas; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 14th, 2026, at 11:30am, at Word of Life Church of the Nazarene.
