Obituary

Grady W. Smith, 64, of Luebbering, passed away October 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

On April 16, 1956, Grady was born in Washington.

Grady attended St. Clair High School.

On July 1, 2020 Grady was united in marriage to Lavonne (Johnson) at their home in Luebbering.

Grady enjoyed the outdoors, taking long walks and just sitting outside with Lavonne. His absolute favorite T.V. show was "Gunsmoke". Growing up, Grady enjoyed playing with his siblings and cousins on the farm. Grady loved his animals and enjoyed raising cattle. Most of all Grady loved his family.

Anyone who knew Grady, knew he was his own person. In his younger years he worked in the logging industry with his stepdad. He then went on to helping his mom produce and sell fly spray for farm animals. In his later years, Grady just lived in the country with Lavonne and enjoyed life. He will be sadly missed by everyone who loved and knew him.

Grady was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Carole Rathgeber and one brother, Richard Nunn.

He is survived by his wife, Lavonne Smith of Luebbering; Godson, Mason Matchell of Villa Ridge; step-son, Thomas Cule of Luebbering; three step-daughters, Nora White of Waterloo, IL, Victoria Cule of St. Louis and Deanna Cule of Maeystown, IL; sister, Linda Statler and husband Brad of St. Peters; special cousin, Carole Cartwright of St. Clair; dear friend, Ed Brown of St. Clair; seven grandchildren, Kayden, Jordyn, Natalie, Alex, Eli, Joshua and Jenny; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
