George D. Wade, 81, of Union passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 in Union.

Mr. Wade, son of the late Herman Wade and wife Hattie nee Workman was born March 3, 1934 in Mayfield, Kentucky.

He served as a Scout Master for Troop #467 in Pevely for over 30 years and helped many Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

Mr. Wade was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone needing it and was a foster parent to many children over the years.

For many years he was a Council Member for the City of Pevely.  He was the President of Volks Marching Club for 15 years.

Mr. Wade was a member of the United Food and Commercial Union and was employed at Schnucks in Crestwood where he retired in March 1998.

He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Antonia for 45 years, after moving to Union he attended New Beginning's Church in Pacific.

His children and grandchildren meant the world to him, he enjoyed dedicating his time for anything they may have needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Wade is survived by two sons; George Wade of Arnold and Kevin Cherry of Richmond Heights; three daughters, Rachel Thorson and husband James of Union, Kimberly Woods and husband Perry of Kansas City, MO and Bridgette Pyatte and husband Jim of Desoto; one sister, Sue Pinkston of Paducah, KY; 12 grandchildren, Gavin Wade, Abby Wade, Daniel Wade, Issabella Wade, Urijah Thorson, Lillyanna Thorson, Braden Thorson, Kaelyn Thorson, Shane Page, Amanda Page, Brandy Page and Jake Little; two great-granddaughters, Raelynn Little and Destiny Page; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
