George L. Taylor, 83, of Union passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at his home. Mr. Taylor, son of the late James Taylor and wife Ina nee Coyner was born October 26, 1931 in St. Louis. On June 27, 1959 he was united in marriage to Rhoda JoAnn Brooks in St. Louis. Mr. Taylor served his country in the United States Navy until his retirement after 27 years. He went on to work as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector for the State Highway Patrol until his retirement. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Union and active volunteer. He was also a sixty year member of the Masonic Lodge in Union and member of Clowns of America, International where he volunteered his time as a clown named Swabbie. As a Snare Drummer he played for the Kitchen Band in Union. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ina Taylor and one brother, Frank Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Rhoda JoAnn Taylor of Union; one son, Gregory Taylor and wife Patti of Union; one daughter, Constance Kluba and husband Dale of Krakow; one brother, Carl Taylor and wife Frayne of St. Peters; one sister, Helen Lape of Virginia State; six grandchildren, Amber Difatta and husband Joseph Sr., Tony Taylor, Jimmy Taylor, Katie Taylor, Sheena Hawkins and husband Ricky and Shannah Peterson and husband Richard; six great-grandchildren, Joseph Difatta Jr., Skyla Difatta, Brett Hawkins, Annah Hawkins, Haddie Hawkins and Isabella Peterson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
