Gene Surcey of Union, MO was born August 3, 1944, in Benson, NC; the son of Everette Surcey and Clara (Dunn) Adams.  Gene passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the age of 80 years.

Gene worked in several different jobs over the years but always felt the most rewarding of his life was as a school bus driver.  He enjoyed the work and the students whose lives he impacted.  He was a member of The Rock Church in Union.  Gene enjoyed woodworking and gardening in his spare time.  He loved growing flowers and vegetables and took great pride in them.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Everette Surcey and Clara Adams; his wife, Opal (Becker) Surcey; and one sister, Brenda S. Spell.

He is survived by one daughter, Tracy Fifield and husband Donald Jr. of NY; three stepdaughters: Bobbi Anderson of Ft. Mojave, AZ., Julie Herr of Sullivan, and Suzanne Trucks and husband Jason of Villa Ridge; two siblings: Jay E. Surcey of Benson, NC., and Sarah L. Evans of Georgana, AL; eighteen grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
