Obituary

Gary M. Walker, 84, of Union passed away, Sunday, August 21, 2022, at his home in the comforting presence of his loving family.

On July 17, 1938, Gary was born to the union of Doyle Jim Walker and Jessie (Carr) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Gary was united in marriage on January 24, 1959, to Janell (Weber) at Atonement Lutheran Church in Florrisant, Missouri.

He was a member of the NRA and Route 66 Car Club. Gary was a parishioner of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Union. He also served on the Union Senior Center Board where he also drove the bus during his retirement.

Gary worked for McDonnell-Douglas for 39 years. Later he drove the delivery truck for Ferrell Gas for 6 or so years as well as the School Bus for Union R-11 for 3 years.

He enjoyed being outdoors, boating, hunting as well as mowing his lawn. Gary owned a 1965 Baby Blue Mustang which Janell and him enjoyed very much, toting it around to many car shows and events with the car club. His love of cars extended into NASCAR which he loved to watch. He was a firearms enthusiast and was very well disciplined in the handling and safety of firearms. Gary was also a talented artist creating beautiful drawings. In his younger years he and Janell loved to ride motorcycles. Gary was an avid reader and enjoyed a good book. Most of all Gary was a family man and cherished the time he spent with his loving family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jessie Walker; one daughter, Laurie Walker.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janell Walker of Union; one son, Keith Walker and wife Linda Robertsville; two daughters, Janene Doner and husband Dan of Georgia and Catherine Blackwell and husband Billy of Union; four grandchildren, Heather Wallin of Robertsville, Brandon Gilleland and husband Cody of Florida, Alicia Small of Georgia and Katelyn Blackwell of Union; three great-grandchildren, Raylan Allen of Robertsville, Jaymison Small and twin sister, Jazzlyn of Georgia; other grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
