Gary William Dodd, Sr., 82, of Washington, Missouri, passed away at his residence on Friday, July 31, 2026.

He was born June 26, 1944, in Rockville Centre, New York, to William Dodd and Elaine (Skinner) Dodd.

Gary held a bachelor’s degree from Marshall University and built an extensive career in the oil and automotive industries. Holding positions such as executive with Ashland Oil, general manager of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, along with being the owner operator of T&WA (Tire & Wheel Assembly) in Alabama, retiring from Allied Universal.

He was quite the adventurer, having travelled to multiple continents, jumped out of a plane solo, had his Padi scuba diving certification, enjoyed zip lining, snow skiing, and ice skating, but also enjoyed golf, tennis, horseback riding, boating, and camping, and loved to travel with his family — especially to the beach, no matter where he had to go to find one. Most of all, he loved being with his family.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sarah Dodd, of California; his sons, Gary “Guy” Dodd Jr. (Cathy) of Ohio, Richard Dodd (Shannon) of Kentucky, and Matthew Dodd (Harmony) of Ohio; his daughters, Kimberly Jaeger (Kurt) of Washington, Missouri, and Carolyn Dodd of California; grandchildren, Allyson, Megan, Ethan, Olivia, Taylor, Blake, Rachel, Gray, Linus; great grandchildren, Leo, Teague, Avett, Adaline, Solace, Wells, and Benton; one sister, Andrea Formica of New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elaine Dodd; one brother, Douglas Dodd.
