Garry Kenneth Sullentrup, 72, of Washington, MO died at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 23, 2024.

He was born October 06, 1951 in Washington, MO to Kenneth and Evelyn (nee' Kriete) Sullentrup. Garry grew up in Washington, MO and received his education at St. Francis Borgia Grade School and graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in 1970. He joined the United States Army Reserves in 1971 and was honorably discharged in May of 1977.

Garry met his sweetheart, Ellen in 1998, the two were then married February 11, 2018 in Washington, MO.

Family meant the world to Garry. When asked what his favorite memory was, he answered "spending time at the river with the boys."

Garry had a soft spot for his furry friends, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. Sammy, Bubba and Daisy will miss him dearly.

Garry not only worked at the Elks Lodge from 2010 until he retired in 2024, but he had been an active member for 24 years. In addition to the Elks Club, Garry was also an active member of the Lions Club, the American Legion and the Hummingbird Club.

Garry will always be remembered for his kindness and his sense of humor. He loved to laugh and to get a laugh. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. We will miss Garry every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Evelyn (nee' Kriete) Sullentrup; one sister, Sr. Carol Sullentrup; two brothers, Terry Sullentrup and Richard Sullentrup; and brother-in-law, Ben Boedges.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Sullentrup (nee' Kessler) of Washington, MO; four sons: Anthony Sullentrup and wife Pamela of Antioch, IL, Kent Sullentrup and wife Caitie of McHenry, IL, Dwayne Sullentrup of Union, MO, and Darren Sullentrup of Union, MO; eight grandchildren: Jeremy, Amber, Brandon, Shane, Koby, Lilly, Cayde and Liam; three sisters: Nancy Mittendorf of Pacifica, CA, Sharon Boedges of Pacific, MO, and Lisa Holdmeier and husband Dale of Washington, MO; five brothers: Mark Sullentrup and wife Sheri of Linn, MO, Steve Sullentrup and Gena Mayer of Washington, MO, Dennis Sullentrup of Washington, MO, Christopher Sullentrup and wife Sheila of Washington, MO and Kenneth Sullentrup II and wife Joyce of Washington, MO; three aunts: Gladys Martin, Betty Dobsch, and Doris Sullentrup; along with great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life to be held September 28th, 2024 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at The Elks Lodge in Washington, MO.   At Garry's request this will be a casual celebration.
