Obituary

Freda Tredway (Gillam), of Union, Missouri, passed away on June 26, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri, at the age of 78.

Freda was born on March 14, 1948, in Potosi, Missouri, to the late Rua Corby Gillam and Ida

Mae (Brakefield) Gillam. On December 31, 1976, she married Joy L. Tredway, and together they built a life in Union, Missouri. They shared 45 years of marriage before Joy’s passing in 2021.

Freda worked at Hazel Promotional Products in Washington as a sewing machine operator until the company closed in 2004. She enjoyed baking, hunting, and fishing. Freda had a strong faith in the Lord and was an active member of The Ridge Church of Leslie. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and loved the many pets she cared for throughout her life.

Freda is survived by two sisters, Barbara (Terrance) McDonald of Wildwood and Norma (Richard) Wall of Fenton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Norma Tredway of New Haven; sisters-in-law, Nancy Owens (Mike Charboneau) of Washington and Rosie Tredway of Hermann; her special friend, Benny Lamke of Union; and dear friends Dave and Michelle Douglas, Billy Birkman, and Bill Whittaker, whose friendship meant so much to her over the years. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joy Tredway; her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis and Margaret Tredway; her brothers, Arvil, Audie, Austin, and Chester Gillam; her sisters, Verneda Eye, Beulah Edwards, Eulah Evans, Geraldine Johnson, and Lena Lisitano; her brothers-in-law, Paul Tredway and Albert Owens; and her beloved pets, Munchkin Lee, Rocky, Lila, Skeeter, Scooter, Charger, Blondie, and Duke.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Freda will be remembered for her kind heart and her spunky personality. She enjoyed the simple things in life, treasured the people she loved, and never met a stranger for long. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew her and loved her.
