Estal Lee "E.L." Phillips, 90, of East Alton, Illinois, formerly of Union passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at his home.
Estal, son of the late Thomas Phillips and wife Eva Belle (Floyd) was born September 12, 1928 in Dearborn, Michigan.
As a founding member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Alton, IL, he was instrumental in the construction and establishment of the church. He was a current member of Christ Chapel Free Will Baptist in St. Clair. Over the last 30 plus years he graciously attended many other Pentecostal Churches while in company with his good friends and was always a strong supporter of Pentecostal Missions.
He farmed The Farm up to age 85 until needing to cut back due to health reasons. After that he remained dedicated to farming by passing his knowledge to the family on an advisory level.
Estal enjoyed frequent fishing trips to Branson with his son Larry and camping trips with his family.
Above all he was a Godly man.
Estal was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eva Belle Phillips; his first wife, Mary Phillips; his second wife, Rosemary Phillips; one son, Terry Phillips; one brother, Thomas Phillips; three sisters, Edith Todd, Erma Johns and Agnes Gish; one sister in infancy, Jewel Phillips and one great-granddaughter, Kaela Phillips.
He is survived by one son, Larry Phillips and wife Bev of East Alton, IL; two daughters, Crystal Frailey of Union and Sherrie Kent and husband William of Union; daughter-in-law, Sharon Phillips of Springfield, OH; four siblings, Don Phillips and wife Carol of Kansas City, KS, Betty Brown of Evansville, IN, Roy Phillips and wife Jan of Evansville, IN and Doug Phillips of Altamont Springs, FL; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial donations to a Missions of the donor's choice is preferred.
