Obituary

Emmilee Lauren Akers of Union, Missouri, was born December 7, 1995, in Alton, Illinois. She passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 29 years.

Emmilee received her education from East Central College and was extremely proud of her diploma. Despite many challenges throughout life, Emmilee always remained resilient and grateful. She found joy in the small things, like crocheting and music. She was a Christian and had a deep love of the Lord. She enjoyed going to Roots Church and spending time with her church family.

Emmilee made an impression wherever she went. She was close with her golf friends at The Prairies Golf Course, and she would be described as loving and kind. She also became a sports enthusiast along with her family, particularly football, baseball, and basketball. Emilee brought a bounty of beauty to everything she did, with her crocheting, her smile, and unbounded love. She will be greatly missed by all who know and love her.

Emilee was preceded in death by her stepfather, Rob Ayers; one brother in infancy, Zachary Akers; grandfather, Willie Hall; great-grandparents, James and Shirley Large, and Ed and Anna Malin; great-great-grandmother, Eileen Ficker; great-aunt, Vicky Harvey; and great-uncle, Steven Malin.

She is survived by her parents, Chuck Akers, of Union, and Tracy Koger, of Nevada; grandparents, Reida Hall and special friend, Terry Souchek, of Union, and Deb and Orvel Obermeier, of Hoyelton, Illinois; eight siblings, Collin, Henry, Amanda, Oliver, Flora, Bennett, Vincent, and Willamena; aunts and uncles, Stephanie Akers, Gary and Nadia Akers, Brian Woods and friend Jen, and Nick and Patty Crider; great-aunts and uncles, Sandy and Clyde Pich, Roger and Vicki Malin, Brenda Bizaillion, Becky and Kevin Kinser, and Brad Crider; her godmother, Marci Knight; cousins, Kyle Akers, Adam Akers, Ellie Woods, and Annie Woods; bonus aunts, Dawn Lietz, Robin Reid, Amy Tongay, and their families; her special kitty, Pippy; and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Emmilee Akers can be made to Roots Church.
