Elaine Eva Martin (Sweetapple), 90, of Pacific, formerly of Doniphan, passed away with her son and daughter-in-law at her side on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

Elaine, daughter of George Rollo Sweetapple and his wife, Mary Magdaline (Hippeli), was born on August 29, 1932 in Erie, Pennsylvania.

After graduating from Mill Creek High School in Erie, Pennsylvania, she worked in the medical field, but most of her work life was in Doniphan at the Vitronic Promotional Group. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was loved by all who were lucky enough to know her. Elaine had lived in Doniphan from 1961 to 2005 when she moved in with her son Charles and his wife in 2005.

Elaine married Bobby Lee Martin on October 18, 1950, at Nayoren Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was an Army wife, traveling with Bobby wherever he was assigned in the US Army Medical Corp, until his death on September 15, 1955.

She enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her family and traveling with her sisters to many of the U.S. States including Hawaii and to many of our national landmarks like Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Sweetapple; her husband, Bobby Martin; one brother, Joseph Cole.

She is survived by her son, Charles Martin and wife Brenda of Pacific; two sisters, Kathleen Sweetapple and Velma Sweetapple of Saint Clair; nieces; nephews; cousins and many friends.
