Obituary

Doug McNeil Sr., 78, of Villa Ridge, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 3, 2017.

Mr. McNeil, son of Lionel McNeil and wife Eleanor nee Root was born on May 31, 1939 in Rochester, New York.

On July 20, 1963, he was united in marriage to Roz DiSalvo in Rochester, New York.

Doug was a man who loved the Lord with all of his heart and he showed it every day through the words and deeds he directed towards his family and everyone else who was fortunate enough to be placed in his path. His day was never complete until he had lifted up every one of us to the Lord in prayer.

Doug served his country proudly by volunteering for the army. He served as a Forward Observer in Korea and received an honorable discharge in 1961. He never forgot his fellow veterans.

He had a passion for missions work, always answering the call placed on his heart by God to help others in need.

Doug McNeil was a child of God, a loving provider, and a man of honor and integrity. Men like him do not come this way often enough. If they did this world would be a much better place.

Doug was preceded in death by his father Lionel McNeil.

He is survived by his wife, Roz McNeil of Villa Ridge; one son, Doug "Mac" McNeil Jr. and wife Rae Ann of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one daughter, Heather Holland and husband Stephen of Wildwood; mother, Eleanor McNeil of Hilton, New York; two sisters, Nancy Bailey and husband Jim of Hilton, New York and Diane Muar of Ashland, Virginia; two grandchildren, Joshua McNeil and Jacob McNeil both of Fayettville, North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Rory Patrie and wife Debbie, Lynn Halterman and Jeff Thornberg; other nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
