Funston
September 15, 1947 – October 17, 2022
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Doris E. Funston, of Leslie, on October 17, 2022, at the age of 75.
Doris was born on September 15, 1947, in Gideon, Missouri to Homer Downing and Orba (Hedgecock).
She was joined in marriage to John Funston on July 19, 1969, in Union.
She retired from Rawlings after 15 years.
Doris enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with the Domino Club and her friends from Evergreen Baptist Church. She was a grandma to many before she actually became a grandmother herself. Doris loved her family immensely and enjoyed spending time with them especially her grandbabies. She was very much involved in all of her grandbabies' lives. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is now reunited with her precious granddaughter, Elisha Funston; four sisters, Mary Holt, Martha Clark, Janet Huyck and Dianne Prince; two brothers, Larry Downing and Donnie Downing; her parents, Homer Downing and Orba Russell.
Doris is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Funston of Leslie; one son, Sean Funston and wife Cheryl of Leslie; one daughter, Michele Steever and husband Kenny of Rosebud; two brothers, Jerry Downing of Camdenton and Thomas Russell and wife Karen of St. Clair; three sisters, Shirley Terranova of Ballwin, Debbie Kelley and husband Benton of Pacific and Sherri Thomas and husband Mark of Robertsville; sister-in-law, Donna Elbert of Washington; good friend, Carol Johnson of Pacific; three grandchildren, Andrew Funston, Grant Steever and significant other Danielle Roblow and Maddy Steever; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
