Donald R. Sands, 74 of St. Clair passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at his home. Mr. Sands, son of the late Lawrence Sands and wife Alice nee Minzes was born August 7, 1939 at Boles Township, Missouri. Donald was very active in Conservation being a former member of the Franklin County Wildlife Club and former member of the Missouri Trap Shooter's Association. He was also a former member of Ozark Road Runners and former member of the American Pool Players Association. Donald worked at Droege's Supermarket as a Meat Cutter and Droege's Wholesale as a Salesman. As a Meat Cutter he became a member of Local 88. From 1978 to 1989 he owned and operated D. Sands Restaurant in Labadie and most recently was the current owner of Theo's Colonial Bar, LLC in Union. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Alice Sands; Theo Burger. Mr. Sands is survived by two daughters, Cherie Coleman and husband Kevin of Farmersville, IL and Joyce Schnarr and husband Daniel of Sullivan; one sister, Shirley Brinkmann and husband Robert of Labadie; three grandchildren, Jason Mauntel and wife Brande of New Haven, Brandon Meyer of St. Albans and Katie Helland and husband Marshall of Catawissa; one great-granddaughter, Kyra Mauntel; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
