Obituary

Donald Lee Gumpenberger, 47 of Union passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in Washington.

Mr. Gumpenberger, son of Everett H. Gumpenberger and Rose Mary nee Finder was born June 25, 1966 in Washington.

Donald was born and raised in Washington, receiving his education at St. Francis Borgia and completing his senior year at Washington High School Class of 1985. He attended East Central College to obtain a certification in welding.

He attended St. Francis Borgia Church where he was confirmed and baptized.

On June 10, 2000 he was united in marriage to Starlyn Koppelmann in Union. He worked at Canaan Steel in Washington.

Donald loved music and was a well known Drummer performing with many bands in the area. He was a dedicated Cardinal fan, fan of all sports and loved fishing. For many years he managed and coached for Union Little League. Donald was loved deeply and will be missed by all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Mary Gumpenberger; grandparents, William and Mary Finder and Henry and Edna Gumpenberger; brother-in-law, John W. Elbert and nephew, Daniel E. Bailey.

Donald is survived by his wife Starlyn Gumpenberger of Union; two sons, Joshua D. Gumpenberger and Cory L. Sadler both of Union; his father, Everett H. Gumpenberger of Washington; one brother, Wayne Gumpenberger of Washington; three sisters, Joyce Holmes and husband Bob of Washington, Karen Elbert of Washington and Diane Bailey and husband Danny of Union; mother-in-law, Helen Gumpenberger of Union; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
