Obituary

Don Crecelius, of St. Clair, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the age of 91.  He was born in Cherryville, on December 14, 1934, son of Fred Crecelius and Charlsie (Duncan) Crecelius.

He was united in marriage to Mildred "Alice" Myeburger, in St. Clair, on May 30, 1957. She preceded him in death by nine days, on March 23, 2026. They are now together again.

Don achieved many endeavors in his life, starting with serving in the National Guard for six years.  He was a founding member of the St. Clair Ambulance Board and was in the first Emergency Medical Technician class to be offered by the State of Missouri. Don then took this knowledge as an E.M.T. and taught E.M.T. classes, in addition to teaching First Aid and Advanced First Aid classes at fire departments, community centers and churches in Franklin and surrounding counties.

He served as the business manager for the Meramec Ambulance District for over twenty years before becoming an over the road truck driver, and later drove a school bus with Laidlaw Transportation, serving the Washington School District before his retirement.

Don and Alice were members of The Ridge Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and just tinkering in his garage.  He was known for his kindness and almost instant friendship with anyone who took the time to know him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Mildred "Alice" Crecelius; his parents, Fred and Charlsie Crecelius; one brother, Jack Crecelius; two sisters, Ethel Preiss and Lillian Crecelius.

Don is survived by one son, Rick Crecelius and wife Kim of St. Clair; one daughter, Charlotte Owens and husband Ron of Kansas; four grandchildren, Andrew Wilton, Emily Wilton, Lane Crecelius and Hannah Welty; two great-grandchildren, Cade Crecelius and Cooper Crecelius; other relatives and many friends.
