David R. Zehner, 68, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away from kidney cancer on Friday, January 24, 2025, surrounded by the family he cherished so dearly.

Born in 1956, David grew up with a passion for creating, fixing, and preserving the things that mattered most to him. A true craftsman at heart, he took pride in restoring his beloved '55 Ford Thunderbird and maintaining the family farm he inherited from his father. His hands were never idle, and his determination to build and repair was matched only by his love for his family.

Dave found immense joy in traveling with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Whether it was camping, road trips, or a day on his boat, Dave loved quality time with his family. He even fulfilled his lifelong dream of visiting Hawaii with his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Zehner and Christine (Bahr) Merlotti.

He was a devoted father to his five children: Andy and Lisa Zehner of St. Charles, Sarah Zehner and significant other, Dylan McAuliffe of Shelton, WA, Brian and Rachel Zehner of St. Peters, Matt Zehner of Kansas City, MO, and Jess and Brian White of St. Charles; and a proud grandfather to his three grandchildren: Benson, Brecken, and Emmett. He also leaves behind his two siblings: Ken and Kim Zehner, and Kathy and Jim Waters.

Dave's legacy of hard work, kindness, and devotion will live on in the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Per his request, a small celebration of Dave's life will be held in the coming months, where close family and friends will gather to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a small donation to the Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer.
