Obituary

David Lawrence Hewitt of Washington, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home with his devoted wife by his side on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the age of 93 years. He was born February 19, 1932, in Crystal City, Missouri; the son of Elmo Hewitt and his wife, Lorraine (Bridwell).

David honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War in the amphibious recon division. He met the love of his life, Betty (Mahew), in 1957, and the couple married in 1958, with four children blessing their union. He worked at Emerson Electric for 30 years, retiring as Vice-President of Industrial Relations. David had three loves of his life: love of God, love of country, and his greatest love, the love of Betty. Family was truly the focus of David's life, and they find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the memories they will cherish forever.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Lorraine Hewitt; one son, David Hewitt, Jr.; and four siblings, Dean Hewitt, Neil Hewitt, James Hewitt, and Mary Ann Null.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Hewitt, of Washington; three daughters, Laurie Price and husband Adrian, of Union, Karen Wayman and husband Chris, of St. Louis, and Susan Harmody and husband Matt, of Southern Pines, North Carolina; one brother, Michael Hewitt, of Rolla; eight grandchildren, Willy (Sarah) Hewitt, Michelle (Justin) Fleer, Lauren (Wesley) Boever, Cassie Price, Matthew (Mulloy) Harmody, Kirsten (Tommy) Hogan, Kayla (Scott) Frazier, and Andrew (Lucy) Harmody; six great-grandchildren, Mya, Zoë, Logan, Riley, Jackson, and James; other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Tunnel to Towers (t2t.org) or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
