Paul "Dave" Brake of Leslie, MO was born December 31, 1954, in Springfield, MO; the son of Paul Houston Brake and his wife, Frankie (Wilson). Dave passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the age of 70 years.

Dave was united in marriage to Kim Callahan on October 2, 1977, and four children blessed their union. He had a deep love for the Lord, and was thankful for his salvation, and tried to pass on these values onto his children and loved ones.  He truly enjoyed his work of the last 30 years, delivering papers for the St. Louis Post Dispatch and then later the Missourian. Dave loved music and helped organize a few bands.  He was always up for a good game of croquet with the kids, and enjoyed the holidays with his family, especially Thanksgiving.  The time Dave cherished most was the time spent with Kim, his children, and grandchildren.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Frankie Brake; one son, John A. Brake; and one brother, Randy Brake.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Kim Brake of Leslie; three children: Sarah Brake of Fulton, Paul Brake and wife Lauren of Union, and James Brake and wife Betsy of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Ron Brake and wife Sheri of Eureka; five grandchildren: Kelsey Brake, Kodey Brake, Aiden Faison, Karsyn Brake, and Rebekah Brake; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials in honor of Dave Brake can be made to Shriners Children's Hospital (shrinerschildrens.org).

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
