Darla
May
April 21, 1961 – December 10, 2024
Darla May, of Union, MO, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the age of 63. Born on April 21, 1961, in Ironton, MO, to Myler and Evelyn (Smith) May, Darla was a beacon of strength and resilience. Her life was marked by significant challenges, which underscored her incredible fortitude and spirit.
She was profoundly dedicated to her family, who were the very heart of her existence. Darla's love was intense and unwavering for those she held dear.
Her passions were simple yet deeply fulfilling. She loved the arts, crafts, and the thrill of late-night shopping for jewelry on QVC & Temu, always as gifts for others. Darla found joy in the small pleasures of life, from the meticulous care of her plants to the excitement of playing online bingo and Candy Crush. She also cherished getting her nails done with her youngest daughter Kristin, turning such moments into celebrations of self-care and happiness. Darla had a special connection with nature, often looking for four leaf clovers and yellow butterflies, which she believed were signs from loved ones watching over from heaven.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents, Myler and Evelyn May, and her sister, Debra Tesreau.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by her daughters, Amanda (John) Heberer of Foley, Candace Quain of St. Louis, and Kristin Winters of Troy; son, Billey Winters of St. Louis; brothers, David May (Doreen) of St. Louis, and Darrall May of Union; sisters, Dorinda Cronin (Jim) of Gray Summit, Diana Jones (Jim) of Fenton, Dalena Rogers (Chuck) of St. Clair, and Dana Pinnon of Union; and her cherished grandchildren, Kellis Heberer, Jacob "Bird" Heberer, Catrina McMaster, Sam "Clarissa" Morose, Coletta Quain-Terry, Kyndall Winters, Daymein Givens, Amoni Cawley, Logan Boston, and Nathaniel Andrews, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Darla's life was a beautiful narrative of loving fiercely and finding joy in the little things every day. She will be remembered not just for her strength but for how she lived with such profound love for others.
