Dane Virgil Brooks Jr., 72, of Sullivan, passed away, Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.

On November 22, 1949, Dane was born to the union of Dane Virgil Brooks Sr. & Grace (Vandervort) in St. Louis.

Dane was married in St. Louis, to Colleen (Jackson). Together they shared 54 years of marriage until her passing in 2015.

He was a family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Dane also enjoyed being outside whether he was cutting grass, which he very much loved to do or barbequing. Most of all Dane loved his family very much including his dog, King. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dane was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Colleen Brooks; parents, Dane Sr. & Grace Brooks; brother, Herman "Butch" Brooks; two sisters, Tina Maxey & Cindy Koenig.

He is survived by his two sons, Robert Brooks of Colorado and David Brooks & wife Jennifer of Ohio; two daughters, Priscilla Tanner & husband Timothy of Illinois and Stacey Schuler & husband Aaron of Sullivan; brother, Timothy Brooks & wife Theresa of Illinois; sister, Ruthann Uptegrove of Farmington; fifteen grandchildren, Chelsea & husband Adam, Heather, Tristan and wife Celeste, Maxx and wife Ciara, Noah, Kiona, Kadin, Keegan, Kourtney, Jacklynn, Torian, Josiah, Wynter, Mason and Kara; four great-grandchildren, Lincoln Dane, Adelynn, Rhyleigh and Sebastian Dane; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
