Charlie Abney of Union, MO peacefully passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at the age of 80 years. Charlie was born February 8, 1944 in St. Louis, MO; the son of Herman Abney and his wife, Hilda (Crocker).

Charlie was a Vietnam Veteran, proudly having served in the United States Army.  He loved racecars and was a very social fellow, until a stroke took away his ability to speak eight years ago.  He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hilda Abney; his first wife, Ruth Abney; his second wife, Judith Abney; and one sister, Wanda (Wayne) Ballance.

He is survived by one son, Charlie Abney II and wife Trisha of Charlotte, NC; two daughters: Michelle Bowen of Union, and Ronda LaShay of Norman, OK; eight grandchildren: Nicole Bowen, Faith Bowen, Michael Zichler, Cody Zichler, Alesia Thun, Ashley (Jeff) Tucker, Brian (Caroline) Jones, and Monica (David) Jimenez; five great-grandchildren: Grayson Thun, Marshall Tucker, Patrick Tucker, Brooklyn Jones, and Eleanor Jimenez; one brother, Gary Abney; and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Charlie Abney will be held at a later date.
