Obituary

Charles Baker Gover Belendez of Washington, Missouri, was born December 9, 1935, in Long Beach, California; the son of Charles Baker Gover I and his wife, Natalia Belendez Garcia. He peacefully passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at the age of 90 years.

Charles came from a family of fishermen from Gloucester, Massachusetts, and he inherited the fishing gene, which he passed on to his children. He loved to scuba dive and collect seashells, among other things, from the world. He was united in marriage to Myrna Mendez Santana in Puerto Rico, and four children came to bless their union.

Charles was an active Mason and Shriner. He was also active with his wife in the Catholic Church in Puerto Rico. Charles worked at the Highway Authority in Puerto Rico and was beloved by his coworkers and subordinates. Once retired, he enjoyed traveling the world with Myrna, playing cards, and puzzles.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Natalia Gover; and one brother, Eli Enrique Gover.

He is survived by his loving wife, Myrna Mendez de Gover, of Washington; four children, Myrna Gover Havener and husband Don Havener, of Union, Charles B. Gover II and wife Hilda, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Bryan Gover and wife Maria, of Germantown, Maryland, and Frank Gover and wife Carmen, of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren, Charles B. Gover IV, Christian (Gimena) Gover, Natalie (Simeon) Gover, Christopher (Alexis) Gover, Frank A. Gover, and Jonathan A. Gover; four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Sebastian, Nicolas, and Tatiana; other relatives, and many friends.
