Carolyn May Houttuin, of St. Clair, Missouri, passed away March 7, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born in Lansing, Michigan on March 27, 1938, to Harold MacDonald and Betty MacDonald.

Carolyn proudly served her country as a member of the United States Naval Reserve and was honorably discharged on April 14, 1962. She was a 1956 graduate of J.W. Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan, and later earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University in 1961. Carolyn devoted over 30 years of her life to education, working as a special education teacher for the New Haven R-2 and St. Clair School Districts, where she touched the lives of many students and families through her dedication and compassion.

She is proceeded in death by her father, Harold Clyde MacDonald; her mother, Betty E. MacDonald; two sons, Christian and Robert Houttuin; one daughter, Melinda Houttuin; and one sister, Janet MacDonald.

She is survived by two daughters, Monica Klemme, and husband, Phil, of Union, Missouri, and Erika Streeter, and husband, Greg, of Wildwood, Missouri; one son, Roland Houttuin, and wife, Samantha, of St. Clair, Missouri; her twin sister Marilyn Mantek, and husband, William, of Greensboro, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Marielle, Robert Jr. (Cheyenne), Willem, Andrew, Emma, and Annika; two great-grandchildren, Anderson, and Lillian; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 3:30 PM at Zion United Church of Christ.
