Betty M. Messex, of Union, MO passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in the presence of her loving family, at the age of 95.

She was born in St. Louis, MO on September 1, 1929, to the union of James and Flora (Knollhoff) Burgoon.  Betty was united in marriage to Russell Messex, on January 21, 1957. She worked as a nurses aide at the old St. Johns Hospital in Washington.

Betty was of the Lutheran faith and was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge. She is fondly remembered for cooking for her large family and caring for her family in their time of need.  Betty enjoyed watching hummingbirds, quilting, working on crosswords and word search puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Flora Burgoon; her husband, Russell Messex; one son, Kenneth Messex; and one grandson, Jonathan Messex.

Betty is survived by her children: Mary Dye of Union, Glennon Messex of Union, Tyrone Messex of Union, and Timothy Messex and wife Chris of Union; grandchildren: Joshua Messex, Elaina Dye, Brandon Dye and fiancée Melinda DeClue, Alex Messex and fiancée Dee Farris, Gabrielle Messex, Danielle Messex, and Jessica Price; great grandchildren: Aaliyah, Gavin, Lorelei, Julian, Gracie, Jonathan, Caleb, Jace, Jax, Payton, and Shylie; other relatives and many friends.
