Barbara Lee (Stricker) Peterson, 78 of McAlester, Oklahoma died peacefully Friday February 2, 2024 at her home.
Barbara was born to Lester Stricker, Sr. and Virginia (Dodd) Stricker on January 3, 1946 in Dallas, Texas. She attended Washington High School in Washington, Missouri.
Barbara moved from Labadie, Missouri in 1979 and made her home in McAlester, Oklahoma. She married George "Pete" Peterson on July 26, 1997 in McAlester.
Barbara worked as the store manager for Payless Shoe Store in McAlester, Oklahoma for several years.
She then worked as a receptionist for Brad Fenton Motors, retiring in 1998.
Barbara enjoyed playing the organ, flower gardening and collectables. Barbara was committed to her family, and her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Barbara was always there to brighten the lives of others; she will be missed but not forgotten.
Barbara is now reunited with her parents, Lester and Virginia Stricker and her son, Gary Clapper and brother-in-law, Jim Landrum.
She is survived by her husband, Pete Peterson of the home; son, Dave Clapper and wife, Nancy, of Union, Missouri; step-daughter, Ronnie Kay Bailey and husband, Johnny of Sobol, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Eric Clapper and wife, Danielle, Nicole Clapper, Hannah Lucas and husband, Kory, Michael Clapper, all of Union, Missouri, Kody Bailey, Jesse Bailey both of Sobol, Oklahoma; seven great grandchildren; sister, Linda Landrum of Palestine, Texas; brother, Buddy Stricker of St. Louis, Missouri; special friends, Jan and Charles Wheeler; numerous other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception School.
