Obituary

Barbara Ann Guthrie, of Union, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the age of 84 surrounded by her family. She was born in Medora, Illinois on March 21, 1942, to Joseph and Cora (Meeks) Gross and was one of 13 children.

She married Jerry Guthrie on September 5, 1959, and together they had five children, three of whom survive.

Barbara loved to cook, especially for her family. She was an active member of St. Clair Southern Baptist Church, where she cherished the services, music, and fellowship. She worked for many years at Walmart in Union, where she later retired.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry of Union, her daughter, Dana Shannon and husband Terry of St. Peters; and two sons, Charles"Pete" Guthrie and wife Sara, and Brian "Joe" Guthrie and wife Krista, all of St. Clair. She was a proud grandma to Tabitha Powell (Christian), Garett Guthrie, Noah Guthrie (Jessica), Caden Guthrie (Jersey), Christopher Guthrie (Brittany), Zach Guthrie (Ocean), Amanda Rolley (William), Taya Hale (Casey), Jaden Hale, Aaron Lynn (Shanna), Jeannie Lynn (Albert), She was also a proud grandma to her bonus
grandchildren Sabrina Lynn, Angela Doss (Will), Tony Wilson, Gretchen Wilson, and Alyssa Wilson,Russell Shannon (Kay), Jason Shannon, Jordan Shannon (Crystal); great grandma of thirty-one and great-great grandma of one. She is also survived by two brothers, Joe Gross (Susan), Richard Gross, and a sister, Sharon Kay Joiner.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Latricia Wilson; her son,
Martin Guthrie; and nine brothers and sisters.

Memorial donations to St. Clair Southern Baptist Church are preferred.
