Avery "Sonny" Edward Cahill, Jr., 82 of Union passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Washington.

Mr. Cahill, son of the late Avery Cahill, Sr. and wife Elsie nee Hohenstreet was born April 6, 1930 in Washington, Missouri.

On September 29, 1951 he was united in marriage to Ruby Small in Villa Ridge. He served in the Army National Guard from 1949 to 1970.

After his retirement he wintered in Texas doing Missions work and playing Bass with several groups. For several years Avery and Ruby were caretakers at the Franklin County Baptist Youth Retreat Center. He was a faithful member and Deacon at Grace Baptist Church in Union.

He was a good man with a positive attitude and always left a legacy.

Mr. Cahill was preceded in death by his parents, Avery Sr. and Elsie Cahill; his son Roger "Rocky" Cahill and sister, Rena Neier.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Cahill of Union; two daughters, Sharon Hill and husband Eric of Union and Denise Robinson and husband Dave of Florissant; two sons, Steve Cahill and wife Laura of Washington and Tim Cahill and wife Tracey of Union; daughter-in-law, Ruth Cahill; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one, great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
