Alvie Lape Jr., 79, of Union passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Lape, son of Alvie Lape and wife Hazel nee Cox was born November 11, 1938 in Parma, Missouri.

Alvie served his country in the United States Airforce. He enlisted during the Cuban Crisis and was on high alert in Morocco. He later served in Vietnam outside Saigon for one year.

After the service he was employed at St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District from 1967 until his retirement in 2001.

Mr. Lape was preceded in death by his parents Alvie and Hazel Lape; his first wife, Vida Lape and two sons, Michael Lape and Robert Lape.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Lape of Union; one son, William Lape of Beaufort; two daughters, Cindy Brown of Marthasville and Cheri Maune and husband Andy of Washington; stepdaughter, Beverly Craig of O'Fallon, MO; one sister, Neva Gruen and husband Butch of Union; ten grandchildren, Megan, Kayla, Ashley, Garrett, Courtney, Ben, Breanna, Rachelle, Michael and Krista; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
