Albert "Big Al" L. Hufendick Jr., 68, of Union passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Hufendick, son of the late Albert Hufendick Sr. and Mary nee Nettles was born December 26, 1947 in St. Louis.
Mr. Hufendick proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving two tours in Vietnam and receiving a Purple Heart. He was a Paratrooper for the 101 Airborne and deployed as a Tunnel Rat.
He was a member of VFW Post 218 in Washington and American Legion in St. Clair.
On May 26, 2000 he was united in marriage to Vida in Warrenton, Missouri.
He was of the Christian Faith and attended Life Stream Church in Washington.
Al was a pet lover and especially cared for his dogs, Peanut and Honey.
Mr. Hufendick was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Hufendick Sr. and Mary Eley; two brothers, Bill Eley and Jerry Eley and his step-son, Bryan Gutermuth.
He is survived by his wife Vida Hufendick of Union; one son, Darrel Boyer and wife Leesa of Hermann; one daughter, Kathy Valley and husband Tommy of Gerald; one brother, Chuck Hufendick; one sister, Annie Hager and husband Ronnie of Bourbon; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
