Life Legacy
Nicholson, Shirley J.
(Compton) passed away Sun. July 11, 2010 at her home, surrounded by family after a long battle with emphysema.
Shirley, daughter of the late Walter Amos Compton and wife Marple (Turnbough) was born May 28, 1936 in Potosi, Missouri. Shirley was married to Leo G. Nicholson for 51 years. Her biggest traits were being kind, caring and giving. She was an avid gardener, passionate cook and had a strong faith in God. In 1999, she proudly retired from Sam’s Club after many years of service.
Wife of Leo G. Nicholson; loving mother of Terry L. Stricker, Carol S. Rowland (Ray) and Vicky A. Nicholson (Roy L. Hartzell); loving sister of Norma Witt and Diana Compton; sister-in-law of Patricia Schurwan (Bud) and James Nicholson (Alice); devoted and proud grandmother of Paige, Austin, Alexis and Paxton. Kind friend to so many others who touched her life
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-son, Stephen Nicholson; two brothers-in-law, Lewis Witt and Joseph Nicholson.
Services: Visitation Sat. 12 – 2 p.m. at Midlawn Funeral Home, Union, Missouri with funeral at 2 p.m. Entombment Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the American Lung Association are preferred.
